The Nissan Juke's Two Wheel Challenge

New Nissan Juke Goodwood Festival

Yesterday I brought you a few pictures of the first day of the Goodwood Festival of speed. We have more to come from the rest of the festival, and things get more interesting as the weekend goes on.

One of the cars that we saw yesterday was the New Nissan Juke being exhibited and attracting quite a lot of attention. It’s a vehicle that has turned into a great success for Nissan since it’s launch, and they have decided to demonstrate the agility and maneuverability of the compact CUV in Goodwood’s famous hill climb challenge.

However, the Nissan Juke will not be going for the regular record (as it would most definitely lose) but instead it’s going to be attempting the daring feat of completing the entire course driving on just two wheels.

Professional stunt driver Terry Grant will be attempting to tame the Nissan Juke into completing the challenge, as well as attempting a second record in which he will drive the New Nissan LEAF up the hill climb course in reverse! The Nissan LEAF is well equipped for this challenge as it has the ability to reach the same speed going forward or in reverse!

Check back soon for updates on how Grant gets on with achieving the two records and to see whether or not the Nissan Juke survives this challenge!

The New 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG On Sale In Australia

If you live in Australia and have a spare $260,000 or so then you will very soon be able to pick up the king of the Mercedes-Benz CLS range – the 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG.

I’ve explained my feelings about Mercedes in a previous post where I spoke about being disenchanted with the brand after having to spend so much time driving my friends parents around in their Mercedes-Benz CLK in Southampton whilst I was trying to pay for my University education.

I’ve never been a fan of the manufacturer but even I can’t help being impressed by this one. The price alone gives you a hint of the kind of technology that is at the heart of this vehicle and how much power that technology can produce!

The 2011 CLS is powered by a huge 5.5 litre bi-turbo V8 engine, providing 386kW and 700Nm of torque!

The seven-speed gear box drives power to the rear wheels and aids the CLS in hitting 0-62mph in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of around 155mph.

If you feel like taking the cost nearer to $300,000 then there are all the usual, optional extras that can be specified, including; AMG alloys, AMG control suspension and AMG carbon fibre cabin and trim.

The New 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Grand

Land Rover, are looking set to launch a variant of their New Range Rover Evoque, for those Range Rover fans who want that little bit extra space!

This is currently only a rumor but if the if the New Range Rover Evoque Grand was to go into production, then it would be used as an attempt to bridge the gap in the market which separates the Range Rover Sport and the Evoque.

The hypothetical Evoque Grand SUV would be aimed at the US market and specific Asian markets. The British based Land Rover have hinted that a variant would incorporate design changes which would free up extra leg room  throughout the vehicle and provide valuable extra boot space.

The new Evoque will be run on the same choice of 2.0 litre and 2.2 litre petrol engines as it’s predecessor.

It will be interesting to see if people prefer the smaller Range Rover or the larger one, or if people even notice the difference!?
